NFL week 11 preview and picks…

Posted by Josh Weitz on November 13, 2008

nfl4Well here we go with another great slate of games,  I’m coming of 23-5 the last two weeks and hope to continue that trend.  A lot of interesting match-ups, should make for a good week.  So lets jump into it.

NY Jets (6-3) at New England (6-3)-  Didn’t see this as a match-up for teams vying for the division lead.  The pats pass defense is not that great and may entice Brett Favre to take more chance then the coaches may like.  This is going to be a great game, but i don’t think that the Jets are the same as week 2 and Matt Cassell is showing much improvement.  Winner- New England.

Denver (5-4) at Atlanta (6-3)- Atlanta is my favorite over achieving team and i don’t see that trend stopping this week.  Denver is the terrible against the run and look to see a lot of Michael Turner, and will keep Jay Cutler and the offense which will be one dimensional after losing another running back.  One dimensional offenses are not successful.  Winner- Atlanta.

Philadelphia (5-4) at Cincinnati (1-8)-  Ryan Fitzpatrick hopefully did a lot of cardio because he will be running for his life against a blitz-happy philly squad.  This is a mismatch, hopefully the Eagles don’t play down to their competition.  Winner- Philadelphia.

Chicago (5-4) at Green Bay (4-5)-   A very interesting match-up Chicago can’t stop the pass, while green bay can’t stop the run.  Kyle Orton is going to make the start and that mentally may make a world of difference.  Chicago if they can run the ball effectively and keep the Packers on the sidelines they have a great chance to win.  Winner- Chicago.

Houston (3-6) at Indianapolis (5-4)-  Peyton Manning is finally rounding into form.  Bob Sanders really should be the MVP of the league, when in the line-up just chalk up the win.  Houston is having some serious injury problems on defense and that isn’t going to make this better.  Winner- Indianapolis.

New Orleans (4-5) at Kansas City (1-8)-  This is not the mismatch on paper it seems to be.  The Saints are terrible at stopping anyone, and Tyler Thigpen has been a shot in the arm to the offense.  Meanwhile the Saints get a mental boost with Reggie Bush coming back, look for a ton of points in this game, and may come down to who has the ball last.  Winner- New Orleans.

Oakland (2-7) at Miami (5-4)- Oakland has 2 wins and i’m not sure how that happened, they are terrible.  Miami is looking every bit the playoff team, Ricky Williams looks like a guy that is playing back at his peak level.  Winner- Miami.

Baltimore (6-3) at NY Giants (8-1)- This is going to be a very fast game, both teams love to run, and play great defense, and could turn on one play.  If this was in Baltimore i would think they would have an advantage. Joe Flacco has been interception free in last 111 throws but has not seen a pass rush like this.  This will be a huge test for his growth.  Winner- NY Giants.

Minnesota (5-4) at Tampa Bay (6-3)- Tampa bay is a very good defense but has shown they are not physical in there loss to Dallas.  Minnesota is very physical and coming on strong lately.  If Adrian Peterson runs well this will be a lopsided win for the Vikings.  Winner- Minnesota.

Detroit (0-9) at Carolina (7-2)- Bottom line the Lions are not good enough to win a game this year.  On the road with that defense that the panthers have is not going to make it any easier to get a win.  I look for this one to be another killing as the lions have seemed to give up on their season despite their coach not giving up at all.  Winner- Carolina.

Tennessee (9-0) at Jacksonville (4-5)-  This is going to be a great smashing game, both teams are super physical.  With Kerry Collins proving he can pass that just adds a dimension to a team that was thought to only be able to run the ball.  In a battle of defense the bottom line is the Titans are more physical and will impose their will on a very down Jags team.  Winner- Tennessee.

St. Louis (2-7) at San Francisco (2-7) – Well someone has to win this game right?  These are two terrible temas, Stephan Jackson will not be in for the Rams, but the pass game will be on display against a team with coverage issues.  This game will come down to ball control sadly and the niners are running a more balanced offense, and sadly should have the advantage.  Winner- San Francisco.

Arizona (6-3) at Seattle (2-7)-  Matt Hasselbeck is back this week, but may be asking himself, for who? for what?  Arizona after a scare last week should have no such problems this week.  Seattle used to be a tough place to play but they are not as good as their record would indicate, and that is a terrible record.  Arizona is going to make the play-offs bottom line.  Winner- Arizona.

San Diego (4-5) at Pittsburgh (6-3)- San Diego is not very good, last week they got very lucky.  The defense that was supposed to be on of the best, looks horrible.  Pittsburgh is going to have a great time with Willie Parker coming back.  Winner- Pittsburgh.

Dallas (5-4) at Washington (6-3)- Tony Romo is only going to play because if he doesn’t then they are going to keep losing.  But him coming back not healthy could be a new face but will yield the same result.  Washington is a great team and Dallas’s season will be over after this game.  Winner- Washington.

Cleveland (3-6) at Buffalo (5-4)- This is going to be a true barometer of Buffalo’s season.  They are my squad and i’m not ready to give up on them.  This is a home game, and i think the monday night thing will jazz them up.  Winner- Buffalo.

Well there you have it, this weeks picks.  Hopefully they are going to be as good as past weeks, but there are a lot of even games in my opinion, have a great week and i’ll  see you soon.
